Resumo
O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar a passagem do padre Antonio Vieira pelos Países Baixos e a França no período entre 1646 e 1648, quando realizou duas missões diplomáticas nos referidos países. A primeira, em 1646, teve a duração de poucos meses e a segunda durou quase um ano. Nessas duas missões, Vieira atua como uma espécie de “ministro das relações exteriores” do rei D. João IV, procurando articular uma saída para o imbróglio gerado pela ocupação do Nordeste brasileiro pelos holandeses. Nesse sentindo, procuramos analisar a ação do padre Antonio Vieira e suas redes de contatos, sobretudo, a formada junto à comunidade dos judeus portugueses nos Países Baixos.

Abstract
The objective of this paper is to analyze Father Antonio Vieira’s passage through the Netherlands and France during the period 1646-1648, when he carried out two diplomatic missions in those countries. The first one, in 1646, lasted a few months, and the second lasted for almost one year. In both missions, Vieira acted as a sort of “Foreign Affairs Minister” for King D. Joao IV, by trying to find a way out of the imbroglio generated by the occupation of Northeast Brazil by the Dutch. With that in mind, we try to analyze Father Antonio Vieira’s actions and his networks, mainly the one regarding the community of Portuguese Jews in the Netherlands.
