Abstract:
We aim to interpret the spatial organization of rural workers in the state of Ceará in associations and trade unions in the period between 1950 and 1963. As methodology, we use a qualitative approach based on documentary, theoretical-referential research and thematic cartography to analyze the process of spatialization of these organizations in the studied period. In the case of the state of Ceará, we address questions such as the role played by the Catholic Church, the Brazilian Communist Party and the Peasant Leagues in orientating the first rural associations in the 1950s and in founding the first Rural Workers’ Trade Unions in the years of 1962 and 1963.
