When the Jesuits were expelled from Portugal, they went to Salvador, in Bahia, where they founded the Antonio Vieira School on March 15, 1911. The School celebrated its first centennial in 2011. The lives and stories of the members of the Je suit Mission are told in a book which was then published. This paper also discusses the role of the School during half of the Twentieth Century.
